Maybe the devs don't want people to be able to travel anywhere on the map within 5 minutes? If you want to get to a hard to reach area, shouldn't you be required to fight your way there? Otherwise, there really isn't such a thing as a hard to reach area.

I know in WoW you really need mounts, cuz you are walking and riding all day. but in guild wars, you can map travel to the closest location, then walk to the place you want to go.

It's not a matter of mounts being good or bad, it's that this has been discussed COUNTLESS times.
Some want some don't who cares it's been discussed.

Unless, of course, the number and difficulty of monsters is increased in instances where mounts are ridden.

If mounts were implemented, then its implementation would affect other methods of travel; therefore, map travel is relevant. For example, assuming that map travel remains if mounts were implemented, how would the mounts be managed? Would mounts be considered Allies (which travel with you) or Party Members (which are abandoned when moving to another instance using the map)? For a realistic experience, the implementation of mounts and the removal of map travel was suggested. I suggested the replacement of map travel with an item-based and spell-based warp travel system instead of its complete removal.
You responded, "Quit being so goddamn narrow minded." Considering your evasive and negative attitude towards discussing the actual issues involved with the implementation of mounts, I ask you, "Who's narrow-minded now?" Certainly not me.

The tanks have rolled in and over this issue many times. It is dead, quit poking it with a stick.
If you love mounts so much go play Super Mario and ride around yoshi for awhile.
Mounts are just the simple exploitation of innoncent animals. Look at the Stone Summit? Do those Dolyaks look happy?

Actually if you want mounts go play some WoW.
Although I would love a Dolyak as a mount.

Why not just keep map travel as is and have mounts for fun or for those who like to explore? Seems like an ok idea to me that doesn't really affect much.

Create a flow diagram to help you visualize the effects the implementation of mounts would have on gameplay and travel functionality.

Cheers. End game award with restrictions on portal passage when partied with low level teamates.

So far I've made 3 mount topics myself so I agree, the main reason was that they would take up to much of the dev time and bandwich.I would love to get a mount as a end of game reward with money included of course.
Like I said in another topic of mine "people will get guild wars then come to forums and make topics about mounts because they want to get a mount."I don't care how it looks, it could be a white box for all I care.Add them in, instant travel is only good for stuff you have done.
Quests can take up to 2 hours even if your not fighting enemys on the way.
